Pre-Appointment Qualifications & Guidelines
PERMANENT MAKEUP ISN’T FOR YOU IF ANY OF THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS ARE APPLICABLE TO YOU:
Are under the age of 18
Currently pregnant or breastfeeding
Prone to keloids, rosacea, or post inflammatory hyperpigmentation
Have cancer and are undergoing chemotherapy or radiation
Steroid medication and Prednisone (must be off for at least 2 months)
Have open wound present
Have transmittable blood disease(s)
Have aged skin that is extremely thin or severely wrinkled
Have a bacterial or viral infection
Have any skin conditions, such as rashes, shingles, or eczema, in or around treatment area
PLEASE CHECK THE FOLLOWING WITH YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE HAVING A PERMANENT MAKEUP PROCEDURE, IF YOU:
Have diabetes and are under doctor’s care
Have been in remission from cancer for 1 year
Have high blood pressure
Using blood thinning prescriptions
Have seborrheic dermatitis
FOR LIP BLUSHING AND NEUTRALIZATION ONLY:
If history of cold sores, blisters, herpes, OR if you’re unsure you have it, you MUST have your doctor prescribe you with Valtrex, Zovirax, or Famvir to take 2 days before and 2 days after procedure.
Avoid lip fillers or injections 4 weeks prior to appointment.
Avoid blood thinning medication 5 days before and 1 day after appointment.
Exfoliate and moisturize your lips every day for 1 week prior to your appointment.
WHAT TO AVOID 6 WEEKS BEFORE THE PERMANENT MAKEUP PROCEDURE*:
No facials, dermal fillers, Botox, or chemical peels of ANY kind. These include Glycolic, Pumpkin, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, Salicylic Acid, Microdermabrasion, Laser Facials, both ablative and non-ablative. Also included are Fraxel, Co2, and IPL laser treatments
*Avoid Accutane at least 6 months prior to appointment.
WHAT TO AVOID 2-4 WEEKS BEFORE THE PERMANENT MAKEUP PROCEDURE*:
Direct sunlight and tanning beds
**Stop any facial use of retinol, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and alpha hydroxyls, as well as any chemical anti-aging exfoliants, eyebrow growth serums, or any “brightening” skin care products at least 2-3 weeks prior to your appointment. These products thin the skin and may interfere with healed results.
**Any skincare products for youth, repair, anti-aging, wrinkles, acne, tone correcting, brightening, etc. are likely to have these ingredients, so do not use them anywhere on the face 3-4 weeks prior to procedure.
WHAT TO AVOID 1 WEEK PRIOR TO THE PERMANENT MAKEUP PROCEDURE:
Turmeric, Garlic, all blood thinners including Ibuprofen, Tylenol, Advil, Aleve, Motrin, Aspirin, Excedrin, Warfarin, Coumadin, AND oil supplements such as Fish Oil, Vitamin E oil, Primrose Oil
Antibiotics, Iron Supplements, Magnesium, Niacin
Any mood-altering drugs
Do NOT groom brow hairs (threading, waxing, arching) at least 2 weeks before appointment.
24-48 HOURS PRE-PROCEDURE GUIDELINES:
Please eat something 20-30 minutes prior to your appointment to keep blood sugar steady and decrease skin sensitivity.
Avoid powder shakes and “hair, skin, and nail” supplements.
Avoid any form of herbal teas, caffeine, or alcohol 48 hours prior to your appointment.
If you bruise easily, we recommend taking Arnica before and after procedure; Arnica is available at most health food stores.
Do NOT workout within 48 hours of appointment.
Do NOT use any blood thinner medications, such as Advil, aspirin, ibuprofen, etc. 24 hours prior to appointment.
Do NOT consume marijuana or pain medications the day of appointment.
Arrive with brows free from make-up, oils, and moisturizers.
